“WICKED” TO COME BACK IN MANILA FOR ANOTHER RUN

Sunday, March 27, 2016

Good news for those who have missed “Wicked” at the CCP last 2014. Manila Concertus officially confirmed its return in 2017.

Directed by Joe Mantello and staged by Wayne Cilento, “Wicked” is based on a novel “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West,” written by Gregory Maguire’s and adapted for the stage by Winnie Holzman.

Having won 50 awards including several Tonys and a Grammy, it is dubbed as “Broadway’s biggest blockbuster.”

“Wicked,” as mentioned by the media release, unravels the untold story of the witches of Oz.

“Once upon a time in the Land of Oz, two girls — one fiery, misunderstood and born with emerald-green skin, the other beautiful, ambitious and popular — cross paths and form an unlikely bond as they journey to become Elphaba a.k.a. Wicked Witch of West and Glinda the Good.”
