MUSIC OF PEACE: THE MANILA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA CONCERT

Thursday, March 05, 2015

Seventy years later, the music plays again. In 1945, the Manila Symphony Orchestra with its first conductor, Herbert Zipper played Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 in E-Flat Major “Eroica” and Antonin Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 “From the New World” in the ruins of Santa Cruz Church during the liberation of Manila.

In commemoration of its 70th anniversary, the Ortigas Foundation, Inc. invites you to a night of music with the Manila Symphony Orchestra, performing the two concert pieces again.

Ms. Katrina Legarda will read the introductory speech recited then by her grandmother, Mrs. Trinidad F. Legarda who headed the Manila Symphony Orchestra Society.
