1335 Mabini Gallery, Alliance Française de Manille ( AFM), with the support of the Embassy of France, and Centre Intermondes, present Hit Or Miss Is A Hit by Poklong Anading, 2014 Recepient of the Philippine Artist Residency Program in France happening on Friday, February 6, 2015, 6:00 pm. at the Alliance Total Gallery.

Exhibit runs until March 15, 2015.

There are at least five mentionable directions for excavation: upward, downward, sides — left and right, center. The goal of the action is to find the muse. Water is the finder. The seat of muses — the museum — is everywhere.

Objects are defined by gates. Their channels are always exposed to the trickiest of keys — please do not forget the power of water to penetrate. Cracks are created by seepage. Aqueous solutions go through the toughest of barriers.

Transmissions and receptions of thoughts happen by way of tourism. Travelers are liquid agents.

When the season arrives, leaves are allowed to leave. What follows is a time when the leafless tree reveals a map in the heavens, etched by branches, stems, twigs, tips, golden opportunities — arterial roads; nomadic trails; traffic is granted.

Resting on a solid ground is suspension of access, but approval for admission is inevitable.

Mountains, propped up by water tables, await entry into the underworld. Entrance is clear with water.

A manhole cover is not fully potent. Smell is. It can emanate from what is covered. Also, see vision pierces through sly pictures; hear love songs infiltrate divisions.

There are at least five mentionable variations of water: touch, taste, smell, sight, hearing. These, along with phantom elements, compose the universal solvent.

Poklong Anading is an excavator; a crack; a gate; a liquid agent; an elementary part of that universal solvent. He awaits entry — and he had been granted admittances inside the seat of muses.

A convergence of variants, there at the Centre Intermondes, La Rochelle, in France. His sight sparkled — video. His hearing vibrated — audio. Some must have smelled the movements of his thoughts emerged from installed objects eager to communicate; Some must have tasted the air full of dancing codes inside Centre Intermondes; Visitor must have touched the flow of water through the hands of co-visitors.

We all become the map, including Mr. Anading, constantly tracing, and retracing the museum’s invisible tributaries. We are the meeting of senses, the inspiration, and the seeker of it.
