EXTENDED! “ON LINE ORDER” BY CRISPIN VILLANUEVA JR. AT CCP

Friday, August 29, 2014

On view until September 7, 2014!

In his solo exhibit “On Line Order,” Crispin Villanueva Jr. obsesses on the permutations of the line specifically on his own patterns as an artist. A kind of going back to move forward, that plays into the idea of process as a line of inquiry. For Villanueva, the line is something that exists as much outside as it does inside the work, both a visible and invisible element of it, equal parts consequence and intention; a versatile and protean and catalyzing conduit for the way it bridges varieties of distance and the way it demarcates shapes and limitations and divides space and time, narrowing the gulf between past and present and extending into perpetuity.
