Kaida Contemporary presents Wasteland Wonderland, recent works by Angelo Tabije on April 20, 2014, Sunday, at six o’clock in the evening.

With his recent works, Tabije aims to draw attention to man’s propensity to produce waste to the detriment of his environment. His figures are cyborg-like, bearing the weight of objects, symbols and trash they accumulate over the days of their existence.

Students gather the things they find in school, bits and pieces of learning and play. A nude figure’s head is burdened with empty containers, set amidst childhood accoutrements. Only the innocent seem to be spared from the burden, as they seemingly stare quizzically and in awe of the piles of TV sets and an avalanche of toys.

Wasteland Wonderland opens in Kaida Contemporary from April 20 to 30, 2014. The gallery is located at 45 Scout MadriƱan St., South Triangle, Quezon City.
