STRAM, INC. is happy to announce the 4th staging of the POWER OF PEN which will be held this May 8-9, 2014 at the Top Shelf of the Fully Booked at the Fort Bonifacio Global City.

Power of Pen began in 2009 initially focusing on some basic tools one would need in Food Writing. Our pool of speakers would come from top dailies, trade publications, blog sites and industry practitioners, each carrying with them tons of ideas and experiences which helped them become seasoned writers.

Power of Pen evolved covering the cross section of Food Writing until 2011 and on its 4th series this 2014, we decided to include other potential subject matters which will be of interest to the growing number of new writers.

This year, POP4 will put together seasoned writers and speakers who will talk about writing for travel, lifestyle and food as well. Looking at the big picture, all these three are the main branches from where factual writing to promote local tourism comes from. Writing with the country’s tourism masterplan in mind expands the value of what culinary writers produce for broadcast, electronic media, events, print and collaterals. This year’s speakers will discuss the trends and development on travel and regional food writing, empowering culinary writing to promote tourism, social media as one of the best tool in boosting tourism promotions and how one can capture attention in print.

Those involved in this year’s symposium are: Felice Sta Maria (Author, Governor General’s Kitchen), Michaela Fenix (Editor and Writer for Phil. Daily Inquirer), Nancy Reyes (Editor for Cook magazine, Culinary practitioner for live events and cooking shows), Cora Alvina (Cultural officer for NCCA & tourism consultant for the SM Group), Ige Ramos (Writer, Book cover designer), Marilen Fontanilla (Editor for F&B World), Spanky Enriquez (Writer, Blogger and Media Specialist) and Joseph Cortes (Reporter/Writer and now Editor for View Travel).

The Tourism stakeholders and other supporting agencies will be given presentations focusing on services and expectations in general, special requirements for Culinary Tourism and empowerment strategies in support of tourism and one’s career longevity.

One can learn writing for the food, travel and lifestyle industries by actual experiences and teachings from the professional and seasoned writers who serve as our mentors. The POWER OF PEN has put together a power cast of speakers who will be sharing with the participants their experiences from events and other activities which helped shape their career as writers.

POWER OF PEN is inviting current writers from different publications, contributors, beginners & students, tourism stakeholders, and those involved in the promotions of local festivities, such as councils, local government unit officers and private groups to sign up.

A registration fee of Php5,500.00 per person covers the meals for 2 days and the workshop material in cd format.
