Four time winner in the Philippine Art Awards, visual artist Rodney P. Yap brings SPRING TRANSCENDING to the Altro Mondo Gallery in Greenbelt 5 this May 2, 2014 at 6pm.

The exhibit is his first in the Philippines after a successful European and Asian art tour in 2013. SPRING TRANSCENDING celebrates the season and explores the symbolical meaning of the season in relation to man. As a cycle in life, it explores birth and death and the eternal battle between good and evil. In this new collection, Yap, a master colorist, utilizes a layering technique in both acrylic and oil to execute his figures. and their polymorphic forms.

“With Spring Transcending, I am hoping that people familiar with my art will see the progression, and hopefully, it will attract a new audience. It is important for me to connect with my audience and to be able to show them a visual story through my works on canvas.”

The Bacolod City-born and Davao City-based artist debuted the Primeval collection in Poland and Germany from August to October 2013 and was the featured artist in both the Doors Art Fair in Korea last November, and at the Art Apart Fair in Singapore this recent January. He will be representing the country in the Annuale 2014 of the Museum of Young Art (MOYA) in Vienna, Austria this June 23. For two semesters, Yap taught art at the Philippine Women’s College in Davao City.
