CLARE CAROLIN HOLDS A TALK AT THE MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ARTS AND DESIGN (DLS-CSB)

Monday, January 13, 2014

The Museum of Contemporary Art and Design (MCAD) presents a talk by Clare Carolin, senior tutor at Curating Contemporary Art MA program at the Royal College of London, on the curating program’s teaching methods, processes and distinct program structure on Jan. 16, 2:30 p.m. at MCAD, ground floor, De La Salle College of Saint Benilde, School of Design and Art Campus, 950 Ocampo St., Malate Manila.

This talk is part of MCAD Platforms, the museum’s Education Program.

The post-graduate programme on Curating Contemporary Art at the Royal College of Art (RCA) was founded in 1992 as the first post-graduate program in the UK to specialise in contemporary arts curatorial practice and the only curatorial course to place the key issues posed by globalisation at the heart of its curriculum. The course is also unique in operating on a studio model. It approaches the field critically, theoretically and through best-practice in commissioning, exhibition-making, programming and art writing in museums, galleries and a broad range of alternative contexts.

Clare Carolin, aside from being the Senior Tutor of the Curating Contemporary Art course at the Royal College of Art (RCA), has previously worked at the Hayward Gallery, London, for the National Touring Exhibitions, and ModernArt Oxford. Her projects include Regina Jose Galindo: The Body of Others, The Seven Day Weekend/Le Weekend de Sept Jours, Facts of Life : Contemporary Art from Japan, Fantasy Architecture, Eyes, Lies and Illusions and A Secret Service: Art, Compulsion and Concealment. She will be co-curating the upcoming show The Surface of the World at the DLS-CSB, Museum of Contemporary Art and Design (MCAD), Manila, Philippines.
